Al Mushrif Cooperative Society was established on March 13, 1985, and was officially inaugurated on June 8, 1985, under the name "Al Mushrif Cooperative Society," pursuant to Ministerial Resolution No. (80) of 1985. The cooperative is headquartered in the Al Mushrif area, covering the city of Abu Dhabi, and operates in accordance with Federal Decree-Law No. (6) of 2022 regarding cooperatives in the United Arab Emirates.
Since its establishment, the cooperative has played a pioneering role in achieving social and economic development by providing goods, services, and cooperative activities to the residents of Abu Dhabi with high quality and competitive prices. It has also significantly contributed to supporting social and charitable initiatives and enhancing the well-being of the region.
Al Mushrif Cooperative is a fully national institution (100%), managed by a board of directors consisting of citizens accredited by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and the Ministry of Economy. It includes approximately 900 Emirati members, whom the cooperative supports to improve their living standards and enhance their economic and social stability, in compliance with the laws of the UAE.
In line with Abu Dhabi's development trajectory, the cooperative underwent significant growth in 2015. The old building was demolished, and a new, larger building with a modern design was constructed to reflect advanced architectural styles and the emirate's urban character. The new building features a wide range of goods and products in the supermarket, including fresh vegetables and fruits, a butchery, a fishery, a bakery, a roastery, dairy products, and many other items. It also offers a diverse selection of food and non-food products to meet the needs of various community segments and cultures, focusing on introducing innovative offerings in the retail trade sector.
Furthermore, the cooperative has expanded its services to include other essential activities and services for the area’s residents, such as banking services, hospitality, pharmacies, beauty salons, fishing equipment, perfumes and accessories, clothing and footwear, among others. The building also features a large number of renowned brands known for their high quality and excellent reputation, attracting over 2,500 shoppers daily.
With accumulated experience over the years, Al Mushrif Cooperative has achieved remarkable success, becoming one of the leading shopping centers in Abu Dhabi and the primary destination for shoppers in the Al Mushrif area, solidifying its position as a prominent retail hub.
Today, the cooperative continues to draw inspiration from its core values, supported by the expertise and skills of its employees, whose capabilities are continually developed. It aims to open new markets to expand its services and reach more customers and shoppers. The cooperative remains committed to achieving its cooperative goals and enhancing its role in social responsibility, contributing to sustainable development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
